The valley temple was used as a place where rituals were performed before the king entered his burial chamber inside the pyramid itself. The mortuary temple was built outside each pyramid complex but still within its perimeter wall so that visitors could access it easily via an entrance gate called “the causeway”.

Alexandria has a long history, dating back to Alexander the Great who established it as his capital in 331 BC. Since then, it has been ruled by many different people including Romans, Arabs and Turks before becoming part of modern Egypt after World War I when Britain took control over parts of Africa including Egypt (then known as “Egyptian Sudan”).
